Fit For Good classes are designed to help improve balance, flexibility and general fitness as well as increasing strength, mobility and cardio endurance, helping older adults to have a more active, healthier life.
Fit For Good also offers opportunities for companionship, keeping older adults engaged with their communities.
Fit For Good in-person classes and online sessions are a fun and effective way to improve your general fitness, health and wellbeing. They are designed and conducted by professional fitness instructors who will help you achieve greater cardiovascular health, balance, mobility and strength - the four key components to healthy ageing.
Each Fit For Good exercise class is a full body workout at a low to medium intensity suitable to all abilities and ages performed in a friendly environment.
The exercises can be performed standing or seated, and modified to suit your own level of fitness or health.
Each class starts with a mobility warm up for the major joints and muscles groups, followed by a combination of cardiovascular work for heart health; strength work for improved bone density, joint and tissue health; functional movements for improving daily life; balance work for improving stability; and core work for building a strong trunk. Each class ends with a gentle cool down and age appropriate stretch. You can use your own body weight and dumbbells in a friendly and social environment. You may be challenged to do more than you thought you could but you will never be pushed to exhaustion.
There aren’t many people over 60 without some health or fitness issue. As long as your doctor agrees, you should be able to participate in a Fit For Good class at your own level.
You will be asked to fill in a short online medical information form providing some background on any medical conditions and sign a disclaimer taking responsibility for your own safety.
Please check with your doctor before starting any exercise programme, including Fit For Good.
We ask you to fill out a short online form about your health which will help your Fit For Good trainer understand your needs. If you have existing health issues, these must be mentioned. A letter from your GP allowing you to participate may be required.

Comfortable clothing that you can move around in and trainers. A short sleeved shirt with a jumper or fleece that you can easily take off as you warm up works well.
If you would like to use weights, please bring dumbells, cans of beans, bottles of water or whatever works for you - no glass containers. Also, bring a bottle of water to ensure that you stay hydrated throughout. For classes that require you to get up and down from the floor, do ensure you bring a mat (towels are unsuitable).
